Manabiya Iowa
Manabiya Iowa, the Japanese Language School of Iowa, was launched in spring of 2012 as an educational program of the Japan America Society of Iowa. To maintain and be sustainable, we have been making some changes since the opening of this program to match the needs of the society.
Classes:
The classes meet every Saturday morning for children aged between six and fifteen years old who wish to learn the language and culture.
The doors open at 10:15am, the classes start at 10:30am and end at 12:00 pm. We start the day with a morning meeting, followed by cultural teaching and a language focused group lesson where the students can improve their language skills.
Once a month, we offer a class called “Hiyoko Club” (Chick Club) where younger children and their families, lower grades school children in the community can explore the language and culture through different activities.
Vision and Mission:
The vision of the school is to help the youngsters to grow up to be the global leaders who are open-minded and respectful of different cultures. We hope the students will become a bridge between Japan and the US, and beyond.
Our mission is to provide a fun and safe environment where students can learn the language and culture through different activities.
